'My Beautiful Life' - photos from a life in Baghdad before Occupation
The N American CRP team filmed interviews with
Iraqis when they were recently in Amman.  We asked
them to tell us about their lives before the invasion.

CRP
Amman Team member, Sanaa was one of those
interviewed.  When she talked about her & her
family's life 'before', she described it as "My beautiful
life"

These are photos of her & her family from those years.

You can see from these photos that Iraqi women
were not 'repressed' - their hair & fashions were
modern

Sanaa's husband attended University in the UK and
obtained degrees in Laser Technology.  Like so many
other Iraqi academics, he received death threats
which prompted them to leave Iraq.

Now, this man who holds many degrees & is a former
university professor, goes out every day, futilely
looking for a job at the time of his life when he should
be comfortably retiring.

Sanaa escaped a kidnapping attempt, but was
dragged by the kidnappers' car for a long distance;
she still suffers tremendous leg pain as the result of
this.

They had to leave everything, a life's worth of
possessions and memories - along with a daughter
and grandchildren - behind when they fled.

These photos show some of what 'liberation' took
away from them.   Thank you, Sanaa for sharing these
